How the free practice exam works

The practice exam has the same set-up as the CBR car theory exam: the same number of questions, the same time and your result only at the end. That way you feel what it is like to take a whole exam in one go.

  • Start. You begin straight away. You do not pay and you do not create an account.

  • Take the exam. You answer all the questions within the time, as in the real exam.

  • See your result. You see your score and the chapters you still need to work on.

Sample questions with explanations

Three sample questions from our question bank, each with the correct answer, the explanation and the source. Think of your own answer first.

English version of each question; the Dutch wording is the original.

You want to stop briefly in a cycle lane. Are you allowed to stop there?

  • Yes
  • No
Show the answer and the explanation

  • a motorway and an autoweg
  • an autoweg, but not a motorway
  • neither road
Show the answer and the explanation

Correct answer: an autoweg, but not a motorway

Explanation

On an autoweg, your vehicle must be able and allowed to travel at least 50 kilometres per hour. The minimum for a motorway is 60 kilometres per hour, so you may not drive there.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay for the free practice exam?

No. The free practice exam costs nothing. You enter no payment details and you do not need to log in.

What do I see after the free practice exam?

You see your score and the chapters you still need to learn. The explanation for every question, the lessons and more practice exams are part of a package.

Are the questions the same as in the CBR theory exam?

No. The set-up is the same, but we write the questions ourselves, in the style of the CBR theory exam. TheorieBinnen is not the CBR and is not affiliated with the CBR.

How do I know if I am ready for the real Dutch theory exam?

If you clear the pass mark comfortably in full practice exams, time after time, you are on the right track. A score in a practice exam is an indication, not a guarantee that you will pass.
